No injuries after massive fire put out at Louisiana sawmill
Firefighters from across southeast Louisiana and nearby areas of Mississippi are working to contain a fire that started at a Chevron refinery in Pascagoula.
(AP) -- Firefighters in southeast Louisiana and the nearby Mississippi areas worked for several hours to extinguish the flames of a massive fire that broke out at a sawmill near Lake Pontchartrain on its north shore, early Monday morning.
Around 10 pm on Sunday, the fire broke out at Hood Industries north of Bogalusa. There were no reported injuries.
Pearl River County Firefighters said on Facebook in a posting that the blaze, which they described as 'large and hazardous' had been brought under control at 3:30 am Monday.
The fire's cause and extent of damage are still unknown.
The Washington Parish sawmill, located on Highway 21, is the largest employer in Washington Parish. It also has locations in Mississippi and Georgia.
