Amazon’s warehouses are reportedly more hazardous for workers during the company’s Prime Day event and the holiday season, according to an investigation by a US Senate committee. The committee found that these peak periods are characterized by high work volume and intense pressure. The report exposes Amazon’s internal data on warehouse injury rates, revealing that the rate of injuries during Prime Day 2019 exceeded the industry average. Amazon’s total injury rate was almost twice the industry average. The report called on Amazon to improve its worker protection measures. In response, an Amazon spokesperson stated that the company prioritizes employee safety and has made progress in reducing incident rates.
