A remarkable Pictish ring with an intricate setting was discovered in Scotland by an amateur archaeologist. The kite-shaped ring with a garnet or red glass center was unearthed at the site of a fort in Burghead. The volunteer who made the discovery had been participating in excavations at the site. The ring is considered unique as there are very few Pictish rings ever found, and those that are usually come from deliberate hoards. The ring is currently being analyzed at a post-excavation service. The discovery sheds light on the Pictish people and their lives.
