Millions of Americans are at risk of losing internet access or facing higher prices if Congress does not approve more funding for the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP), according to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). The ACP, an initiative under the bipartisan infrastructure law, provides discounted internet plans to qualifying low-income households. The FCC Chairwoman, Jessica Rosenworcel, sent a letter to Congress highlighting the urgency of additional funding to support the households that rely on the program. The White House has requested a $6 billion infusion for the ACP. Without assurance of funding, the FCC will begin winding down the program, affecting nearly 23 million households.
